VWorker is a virtual employment platform through which employers and freelance workers in diverse fields can connect for outsource contracting. Job projects in numerous categories are available for freelancers to bid on, including business services, administrative support, marketing, management, writing, web and software design, multimedia, and programming among many others. Freelancers create profiles that enable prospective employers to view their work histories, portfolios, ratings and scores on selected competency tests.
Registration with vWorker is free and requires contractors to create a profile to get access to available work. Tracking software and required weekly status reports provide documentation that ensures contractors are paid for work completed. VWorker is open to U.S. residents as well as to foreign-based contractors.
Employers and freelancers negotiate either per-project or hourly rates for each job individually. VWorker escrows payments and, upon completion, retains a commission on each fixed-price and hourly project ranging between 6.5 and 15 percent depending on specific factors. Payment can be once or twice monthly as selected by the freelance contractor. For payment method, vWorker lets contractors choose from a number of options including PayPal, mailed checks and Payoneer in the U.S. The company uses a blind bidding system that can discourage bidding competitions and preserve higher, more realistic payment for contractors.
