ChaCha

ChaCha is a website that provides millions of visitors with answers to their questions. Over 1 million questions come in each day and no topic is off limits.

ChaCha is able to provide this service with the help of thousands of independent contractors, called “guides”. ChaCha guides are paid to work in this fun and fast-paced online environment, answering thousands of questions daily.

ChaCha offers 4 different guide opportunities for you to choose from.

  • Expeditor: You send answers to peoples’ questions in real-time to their mobile phones. You are always prepared and quick on your toes.
  • Generalist: You answer a wide variety of questions on the ChaCha website. You are able to comprehend, research and answer any question thrown at you, regardless of subject matter.
  • Specialist: You research and provide answers to peoples’ questions on the ChaCha website that fall into your specific areas of knowledge and expertise.
  • Transcriber: You listen to the voice questions that customers call into 1-800-2ChaCha and accurately convert them to text questions.

Getting Started

In order to become a ChaCha guide, you must be at least 18 years of age, fluent in English and live in the United States. You will also need access to a high-speed Internet connection in order to keep up with all the questions.

To begin the application process, go to the ChaCha website and fill out a registration form. You will be asked to fill out some basic personal information and answer a few standard questions about your education, computer experience, and hours of availability.

For the next step, you will be asked to submit a W-9 form. All independent contractors need to report their social security number to ChaCha during the application process. The form is available on the website. It’s very straightforward and easy to understand (we promise).

The last step is to pass a compatibility assessment for the specific guide role you have chosen. This will give you some insight into the roles and responsibilities of a ChaCha guide.

Once the people at ChaCha find the right role for you, you will receive a congratulatory e-mail. This will direct you to a brief online orientation and training session.

After you complete your training, you will be asked to take the ChaCha Role Readiness Test. This is kind of like a guide simulation. It will confirm that you’re ready to tackle all of the live customer questions you can get your hands on.

Earning Money

As a ChaCha guide, you are what powers the service. Without the help from guides, the website would be all questions and no answers. And that wouldn’t be very useful at all!
